Tennessee truck driver on trial for reckless homicide

A Tennessee truck driver who was charged with reckless homicide, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment is now on trial. According to the report, he allegedly caused and accident that killed on 42-year-old woman.

The accident allegedly occurred when two semi-trucks collided on I-40. The man's truck landed on a vehicle that was driven by the deceased individual. The prosecution stated that the man was driving recklessly. The defense, however, claims that the truck's tire popped, which caused him to swerve out of control.

During his trial, the accused man stated that it was his tire malfunctioning that caused him to strike the other semi-truck before the fatal accident occurred. In addition, witnesses and Tennessee Highway Patrol investigators also took the stand, though their testimony was not reported. If he is convicted on the charges, the accused driver will face a maximum fine of $10,000 and maximum prison sentence of 15 years.

If a family loses a loved one to a serious car accident, they may decide to seek the help of a Tennessee attorney. The attorney may be able to give the family valuable legal advice that may help them recuperate some of the expenses that were caused as a part of the accident in the form of monetary compensation. This monetary compensation may be able to cover a number of damages, including medical expenses that were accrued directly after the accident, funeral expenses, loss of companionship, loss of future income and punitive damages.

In many cases, an attorney will attempt to pursue a resolution to a fatal accident through mediation or settlement. In some cases, however, litigation becomes necessary. If this happens, an attorney should be prepared to represent their client in court.
