Car accident results in the death of 1

An eastern Tennessee crash in the early hours of the morning resulted in a car fire and the death of one driver. The fatal accident was caused by a vehicle going the wrong way.

According to a report, a 35-year-old man was driving northbound on a southbound ramp on Interstate 40. He collided head-on with another vehicle, which was traveling in the opposite direction. The second vehicle was driven by a 37-year-old man. Neither car had any passengers.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and caught fire right after colliding. The 37-year-old man died in the crash. The other driver, who is from Memphis, was unconscious as he was pulled out of his car, and he was taken to a hospital and treated. That driver faces charges of vehicular homicide and has been released on $40,000 bond.

Using the charges levied after the accident, the deceased man's family may be able to seek compensation for damages related to the accident. If compensation is awarded after litigation, it may cover expenses such as funeral and burial costs, the cost of repairs or replacement of the decedent's vehicle, and wages and benefits lost as a result of the death. A personal injury lawyer familiar with traffic laws and wrongful death lawsuits may be helpful throughout the process. That lawyer may be able to build a case that shows the other driver's negligence and might present that case in court. If the defendant's insurer chooses to settle before the case is taken to trial, the lawyer may act on the behalf of the family during negotiations.
