2 dead in Texas multiple-car accident

On July 12, an accident during the evening hours on Interstate 24 in Manchester claimed the lives of two individuals. Two other individuals who were involved were injured, as reported.

According to authorities, the three-car accident occurred around 6:15 p.m. when a 35-year-old Tullahoma man was traveling in the opposite lane of the highway in a Nissan sedan. He ran head-on into the path of an eastbound vehicle, killing a 63-year-old female passenger and injuring another passenger and the driver. In the crash, the 35-year-old man also died after he was thrown from his car. Debris from the collision damaged a third vehicle involved in the accident; however, the driver was reportedly uninjured.

Emergency medical personnel who arrived at the scene declared the Tullahoma man dead. Those who were injured in the first vehicle were a 63-year-old man and another passenger, a 22-year-old woman. The nature and extent of their injuries was not reported, nor did the report indicate if they were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police have determined that alcohol did not play a role in the fatal accident. It was not reported if anyone of the victims involved in the wreck were wearing their seat belts.

Texas motorists who were involved in a head-on collision may be left with serious, life-threatening injuries that can have far-reaching effects. In such circumstances, if the crash was caused by a negligent driver, the victims may be able to seek recourse through a personal injury claim in which they could receive compensation for their losses. If the driver at fault died in the crash, the injured parties may have to file against his or her estate in order to recoup their accident-related damages. The attorney representing the family may benefit from the police report of the accident and any witness accounts in order to support the claim of negligence.
