Tennessee suspected DUI accident injures 2

Local authorities report that a three-vehicle accident that occurred in Knoxville around 7 p.m. on Aug. 25 left two people with various injuries. An ambulance transported both injured parties to UT Medical Center for evaluation and treatment. No other injuries were reported.

According to local police, the chain-reaction accident occurred when a woman driving an SUV allegedly struck a sedan at an intersection. The impact caused the sedan to edge into the path of a third vehicle that also struck the sedan. Both the driver and passenger in the sedan were injured. Police suspected the driver of the SUV of driving under the influence and placed her under arrest. The police investigation was ongoing at the time of the report.

Any car accident victim who is injured by a suspected drunk driver may face a long and painful recovery period and exorbitant medical bills. A personal injury attorney may be able to assist an injured individual by filing a claim against the at-fault party for various damages. These may include serious injuries such as spinal cord damage or brain injuries, lost wages, medical expenses, car repair or replacement and pain and suffering.

In any accident that may have been caused by a suspected drunk driver, a driver may be found liable if the results of testing prove that he or she was impaired by the use of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident. Other negligent driving behavior may also prove liability, and this may include speeding or failing to obey other road rules.
