2-car accident in Tennessee leads to fire

A two-vehicle accident in Bristol, Tennessee, that ended in a car fire has led to DUI charges against a West Virginia man. Police reports indicate that the crash took place on the evening of Nov. 7.

The car accident happened at the corner of Highway 126 and West State Street. A Toyota Sequoia was reportedly waiting at the intersection when a Chevrolet Avalanche ran into it from the rear. The force of the impact caused the Toyota to catch fire. A passenger in the Chevrolet had to be pulled from the wreck by rescuers.

The man driving the Chevrolet was taken into custody by police and charged with a variety of crimes related to the incident including DUI, driving without a license, possessing a handgun without a license, possessing a handgun while intoxicated, two counts of felony reckless endangerment and two counts of aggravated assault. At the time of the most recent reports he was being held in the Sullivan County Jail. The condition of his passenger was not known. There were no official reports as to the health of woman in the Toyota, but public statements on social media indicate that she was not fatally injured.

An attorney may be consulted regarding the best way to create a civil suit and file it against the liable parties for personal injury. If there are criminal charges against the accused already pending from the incident, an attorney may be able to use information on the public record to their advantage when advocating for their client. However, the outcome of a criminal trial does not determine the outcome of a civil case.
