Man charged with multiple offenses after violent crash

The Bristol Tennessee Police Department charged a driver with aggravated assault and driving under the influence following a Nov. 7 accident in which two people were injured, reportedly. Authorities said that the 10:30 p.m. crash took place at the Bristol intersection of State Route 26 and State Street.

That is where a Chevrolet Avalanche traveling eastbound on State Street rear-ended a Toyota Sequoia that was stopped at a traffic light, police stated. The collision caused the Toyota to catch fire, and the 28-year-old female driver of the vehicle suffered injuries in the accident. Moreover, a 37-year-old female passenger in the Chevrolet reportedly suffered injuries in the wreck as well, and it was necessary for emergency crews to extract the woman from the Chevrolet.

Police booked the 41-year-old driver of the Chevrolet, a West Virginia man, into the Sullivan County Jail on multiple charges. In addition to the DUI and aggravated assault charges, the 41-year-old driver is facing one count of possession of a handgun while intoxicated and two counts of felony reckless endangerment. Police suspect that impaired driving played a role in the crash. Reportedly, the West Virginia man has four previous DUI convictions on his record.

Motorists who suffer injuries during a car accident as violent as the one in this case may wish to exercise their right to speak to an attorney. For, there is a possibility that civil remedies may be available to them, and the lawyer may elucidate precisely what those are.

In many cases, a personal injury lawsuit is warranted. If successful, the damages awarded may cover medical expenses, lost wages and property damage directly associated with the accident.
